The origin of this family is, as far as is known now, in Poland. Presumably / probably the relatives come from the Polish town Przedecz (przedecz.net, map, more history, Jewish community of Przedecz). The name of the town is pronounced Pshedetch, with emphasis on the first syllable, the letter P sounds very modest. The Jewish name for the town was Pshaytsh, (holocaust victims of Pshaytsh). In WWII the Germans called it Moosburg. The Przedecki's are a Polish Jewish Ashkenazi family, and because of the persecution of the Jews they have wandered all over the world, to the USA, South America (Argentina), France, a few to The Netherlands and a few in Germany. The spelling of the surname in the male line is Przedecki, in the feminine line it's Przedecka. The pronunciation is Pshedetski.

Breslau, Wroclaw (Polish), Breslau (German), Wroclaw (English), Brassel (Silesian), Wratislavia en Wroclaw (Latin).  Don't confuse it with Warsaw, Warszawa (Polish), Warschau (German), Warsaw (English).

On July 3, 1901, Jozef Przedecki and Ludwig Przedecki (manufacturers, Neudorferstrasse 36, Breslaw, see III.1.2 and III.1.3) register a patent concerning a "new and useful Improvements in Mouthpieces for Cigars or Cigarettes". Argentina: Maximiliaan van Perdeck (born as Max Przedecki on August 16, 1889 in Amsterdam) is the ancestor of all Argentinian Van Perdeck's. He came to Argentina in 1908. Germany: Die Perdeck's leben auch in Deutschland. Vorfahren und Nachkommen von Karl-Heinz Perdeck (1951-2008). UK: as far as is known now (2021) there are three family trees Przedecki / Perdeck / Pshedetsky / Burdett / Jackson in the UK. And it is unknown yet if they are related to eachother. Leopold Max Perdeck, born on October 19, 1885 in Berlin, Germany. Carol is the last person with the surname Perdeck in this family tree. Przedecki / Jackson, Solomon Jacob Przedecki, born on March 16, 1869 in Konin, Poland. Przedecki / Pshedetsky / Burdett, Szulim Jacob Pshedetsky, born 1864 in Przedecz, Poland. The Netherlands: the oldest family member is Zijgmon Sijon Przedeck (see under the link 'sources' for his marriage certificate and the marriage enclosures). He fled Poland because of the persecution of the Jews and arrived in Amsterdam on foot around 1881. Zijgmon had a healthy commercial spirit and was certainly not idle, see the link 'sources' at his person for the advertisements. USA: as far is is known now (2021) there are two family trees Przedecki / Perdeck / Pizer in the USA. Martin Perdeck (born as Morris Przedecki on January 17, 1893 in Berlin) is the first to come to the USA via Antwerp (Belgium) and Hamburg (Germany). On the ship 'Graf Waldersee' he arrived in Ellis Island on March 06, 1914. He is the ancestor of all Perdeck's in the USA. It took several weeks to find out who his parents are, the solution was a fluke in the population registry in the Polish city of Poznan, see the 'sources'. Przedecki / Pizer, three brothers: Michel, David and Aaron, sons of Mordchai Przedecki.

Naming in this family seems fairly straightforward in the beginning... •In the Netherlands you will only find 'Przedecki' and 'Perdeck'. •But on international sites (e.g. MyHeritage, FamilySearch, Geni, Linkedin) you can also find 'Van Perdeck', usually in Argentina, these are probably descendants of Max Przedecki. Research in the Argentine church archives is a real challenge (to put it nicely) because surnames were almost always recorded purely phonetically (and often incomplete) by an Argentine priest who has no knowledge of the German and Polish languages. •Once in England or the USA several Przedecki families (not all related to each other) experimented with various Anglicised versions of their surname. Pshedetsky, Perry and Pizer are some of the names used. Several descendants of the Przedecki / Pshedetsky / Burdett changed their name to Burdett. Why Burdett? Was it because Burdett Road was not far away? No. It turns out that it was an attempt to anglicise Pshedetsky by pronouncing the silent 'P' (though, as mentioned above, the P would originally have been lightly sounded.) •Do you want to get lost: search for 'Przedecki' in geni.com and in jewesh records indexing poland and 'Perdek' on findagrave.com. •And what about all the variations: Pardick, Pardieck, Perdeck, Perdek, Perdeka, Perdick, Perdik, Perdock, Perzedeczky, Pryedecke, Przedecki, Van Perdeck, Van Perdek. Perdeck It is striking that in addition to the family below (name change from Przedecki to Perdeck in 1921), people with the surname Perdeck can be found in a number of countries. Albert Adam used to tell his daughter Nine that the idea of changing the name circulated throughout the family in the early 20th century. Some family members were against this and therefore never did, others on the other hand did. It's tempting to think that everyone with the surname Perdeck belongs to one family. But where is the hard evidence?

Descendants of Jozeph David Przedecki

(Her surname is derived from the marriage certificate of son Abraham, where is written 'Kaila/Kalla of Jakubów') .

(In 1828, marriage of son Abraham, they do live in Lubraniec, district Brzesko, Mazovia Provincew) .

(The available sources don't agree about his year of birth:
- birth-certificate in marriage supplements of son Zijgmon: age 46 on January 23, 1852.
- his own marriage: age 28 on May 25, 1828.
- birth of daughter Karolina: age 35 on September 04, 1836.
- birth of son Mozes: age 41 on February 09, 1847.
- birth of son Aleksander: age 43 on July 26, 1848.
The only more or less hard evidence about his year of birth is his marriage certificate where is written that according to the 'Act of Knowing' his age is 28; see the 'sources' for his marriage certificate.)

(In the marriage supplements, see 'sources', a 'birth certificate' from the non-Christian municipality of Warsaw is present. It states that he was born on January 16/28, 1852. The complaint was filed "by the 'Israelite' Moritz Hajnkiser, broker, aged forty years instead of the involved father and in the presence of the Israeli witnesses Jankla Szwartzbar, tailor, aged 24 years and Iva Gulbiser, servant, 23 years old. Showed us a male child, born on the 11/23 (eleven - twenty three) January of this year, at 10 o'clock in the morning, in the number 983-984, declaring the child to be the child of the spouses: the Israelite Adam Przedecki, commercial agent, age 46 and Zofia Lubliner, age 38".)
(The birthdate in the birth certificate is a bit confusing (for me), it could be related to the Hebrew calendar. The birthdate according to the Gregorian calendar isn't 100% clear to me yet.)

(According to a newspaper advertisement from the CBvG, Zijgmon was burried at Zorgvliet (see the link 'sources'). Inquiries (in 2024) with the administration of Zorgvlied revealed that the name Perdeck was not present in the records there).

(One does wonder what happened within this marriage. Married in Budapest in 1902. Had children in 1903 and 1908 in Berlin. Traveled with his wife (age 38!) in the USA in 1904 (unless he was travelling with his 'secretary'). His wife died in London in 1911 and Josef is not found in London around that time).

(True or not true: Considering that Regina speaks 'hebrew' according to the passenger list, I searched the Jewish registers (before 1896 there were registers per religious community, after 1895 there were common registers of civil status in Hungary). The nearest Jewish register near Mihályi is in Beled, there is inscribed on 06.06.1888 Aladár Deutsch, son of Josef Deutsch, 'vegyeskerkeskedö' (merchant) from Mihály and Mári Krausz from H.bödöge (= Homokbödöge near Ugod), 14.06.1888 is the date of his circumcision ('körülmetélés napja'), the scan is saved but not present in this family tree. Josef and Mári also had a daughter Franka registered there on 03.08.1887 (scan saved, not present here) and a daughter Regina registered there 18.03.1890, see 'sources'. Regina would have been exactly (!) seven years older than mentioned in the passenger list and in the petition for naturalization).

(The Coutinho family is originally from Portugal but has lived in the Netherlands since the 18th century).
(In Portugal each person usually has two family names. Though the law specifies no order, the first one is usually the maternal family name, whereas the last one is commonly the paternal family name, respectively apellido materno and apellido paterno. In Portugal, a person's full name has a minimum legal length of two names (one given name and one family name from either parent) and a maximum of six names: two first names and four surnames – he or she may have up to four surnames in any order desired picked up from the total of his/her parents and grandparents' surnames).
(In the course of their lives in the Netherlands, this Portuguese naming probably fell into disuse. Juda's grandfather and great-grandfather had 'Mendes Coutinho' as their last name. The birth certificate of Juda's father is a bit confusing: 'Mordechai, son of Lea Lopes Diaz and Salomon Mendes Coutinho', indexed as 'Coutinho, Mordechai Mendes'. In the birth certificate of Juda his father uses the surname 'Coutinho'. So the official Dutch name of Juda is 'Juda Coutinho'. His descendant(s) have the surname 'Coutinho' ).

(According to granddaughter Esther Max and his brother Albert Adam went to Argentina, leaving the Netherlands on October 14, 1908. Max stayed in Argentina and his brother went back to the Netherlands in the summer of 1911.)
(Albert Adam always told his daughter Nine that Max died very young and in a nasty way (accidentally shot as a pianist (he was) in a bar), this story is confirmed by Roel Coutinho. According to granddaughter Esther Max, shortly after his wife died, left his three small children with Emilia's family and disappeared. Esther's mother heard after 35 years (1955-1957) that Max was still alive and corresponded with his brother Albert Adam, which Albert Adam never told his daughter Nine. Those letters were send to Sante Fe in Argentina. So Max was still alive in 1955-1957.)
