The origin of this family is, as far as is known now, in Poland. Presumably / probably the relatives come from the Polish town Przedecz (przedecz.net, map, more history, Jewish community of Przedecz). The name of the town is pronounced Pshedetch, with emphasis on the first syllable, the letter P sounds very modest. The Jewish name for the town was Pshaytsh, (holocaust victims of Pshaytsh). In WWII the Germans called it Moosburg. The Przedecki's are a Polish Jewish Ashkenazi family, and because of the persecution of the Jews they have wandered all over the world, to the USA, South America (Argentina), France, a few to The Netherlands and a few in Germany. The spelling of the surname in the male line is Przedecki, in the feminine line it's Przedecka. The pronunciation is Pshedetski. |

Naming in this family seems fairly straightforward in the beginning...
•In the Netherlands you will only find 'Przedecki' and 'Perdeck'.
•But on international sites (e.g. MyHeritage, FamilySearch, Geni, Linkedin) you can also find 'Van Perdeck', usually in Argentina,
these are probably descendants of Max Przedecki.
Research in the Argentine church archives is a real challenge (to put it nicely) because surnames were almost always recorded purely phonetically (and often incomplete)
by an Argentine priest who has no knowledge of the German and Polish languages. |

Credits. This pedigree is still growing due to research in archives and information received from family members. But I am not the first to collect genealogical data from this family. Two ladies started years ago, independently of each other, and their data is invaluable for this family tree. And another lady checked and corrected all the offspring of Morris Przedecki (Martin Perdeck). I would like to mention those three by name, but then I fail other family members. |

First published in early October 2020. |
(Her surname is derived from the marriage certificate of son Abraham, where is written 'Kaila/Kalla of Jakubów') .
(In 1828, marriage of son Abraham, they do live in Lubraniec, district Brzesko, Mazovia Provincew) .
From this marriage:1. | m | Abraham (Adam) Przedecki [8] (see also II.1). |
(The available sources don't agree about his year of birth:
- birth-certificate in marriage supplements of son Zijgmon: age 46 on January 23, 1852.
- his own marriage: age 28 on May 25, 1828.
- birth of daughter Karolina: age 35 on September 04, 1836.
- birth of son Mozes: age 41 on February 09, 1847.
- birth of son Aleksander: age 43 on July 26, 1848.
The only more or less hard evidence about his year of birth is his marriage certificate where is written that according to the 'Act of Knowing' his age is 28; see the 'sources' for his marriage certificate.)
(At the marriage of son Zijgmon in 1883 it is stated that father Adam has died.)
(On his headstone, see 'sources', the date of death is 29th Sh'vat 5631. Converted to the Gregorian calender, that is Feb.20, 1871.)
(In her marriage (Poland, Jewish Records indexing-Poland, Marriages, 1798-1939) is written that Zyola's age is 17 years. See her marriage certificatie at her husband) .
(Abraham is 'bachelor' at his marriage, so not married before).
(Zyola is 'maiden' at her mariage, so not married before.)
(The marriage is verbally permitted by Esther Malka Lubliner, the betrothed daughter's mother)
.

10. | m | Zijgmon Sijon Przedecki (Ligismund, Siegmund, Lijon, Lion, Lyon) [4] (see also III.13). |
(There isn't any hard evidence yet that Joseph and Ludwig are the sons of Stanislaus. They are placed here as sons because Stanislaus was the owner of the cigarette factory 'Sultan' and later Joseph and Ludwig are the owners).
Married.(Source (see link) tax register: Jenny and her children lived in 1891 in Breslau, Hummerei 25.)
(Her death was declared by her son Ludwig).

4. | f | Laura Przedecki [247]. Born circa 1866. |
5. | m | Ludwig Przedecki [63], Co-owner of the 'Türkische Cigaretten-u Tabak-Fabrik Sultan' in Breslau, sources. (1915 / 40 p. 10 Deutscher Reichsanzeiger, Wed, 17 Feb 1915 18:00:01 GMT. Bei Nr. 21 768 Egyptian Cigarette Company J. & L. Przedecki in Berlin: Die Firma ist in Egyptische Zigaretten Kompagnie J. & L. Przedecki geändert. Der bisherige Gesellschafter Kommerzienrat Ludwig Przedecki ist alleiniger Inhaber. Die Gesellschaft ist aufgelöst.) Died on 20-11-1926 in Wroclaw, Dolnoslaskie, Poland at the age of 59. |
6. | m | Josef Przedecki [745]. (Remarkable because his oldest brother is also named Josef and his younger brother is also born in 1870). Born 1870 in Wroclaw, Dolnoslaskie, Poland. |
7. | m | Max Przedecki [246]. Born on 27-08-1870 in Breslau, Poland. |
8. | f | Helene Przedecki [746] (see also IV.14). |
(In the passengerslist arriving in New York on March 06, 1914 son Morris Martin is present. On that list mother 'Martha Przedeck' is listed, living in Hamburg, Brennerstr.9.)
(Jewishgen.org: last residence: Windheim (Westphalia?)).
1. | m | Albert Przedecki (Albert Walter Perdeck; Albert W. Partak) [202], sources. (See the 'sources' for his birth certificate, naturalization in 1914, the passengerslist in 1925 and 1927, and an alien-list in Beligium.) Died 00-05-1958 in Dade, Florida, USA. |
2. | f | Else Elisabeth (Ella) Przedecki [201] (see also IV.17). |

6. | m | Morris Martin (Martin) Przedecki (Martin Morris; Perdeck) [216] (see also IV.25). |
7. | m | Moritz Przedecki [643], sources. (The birth certificate of Moritz was not found (ancestry.com) in the civil registration of Berlin, that of his brothers and sisters could be found there. It's remarkable that he is mentioned (ancestry.com) in 'Jews in Wurzburg', see 'sources', where an incorrect death-date of his father is mentioned). Born 1903 in Berlin, Germany. |
(In the marriage supplements, see 'sources', a 'birth certificate' from the non-Christian municipality of Warsaw is present. It states that he was born on January 16/28, 1852. The complaint was filed "by the 'Israelite' Moritz Hajnkiser, broker, aged forty years instead of the involved father and in the presence of the Israeli witnesses Jankla Szwartzbar, tailor, aged 24 years and Iva Gulbiser, servant, 23 years old. Showed us a male child, born on the 11/23 (eleven - twenty three) January of this year, at 10 o'clock in the morning, in the number 983-984, declaring the child to be the child of the spouses: the Israelite Adam Przedecki, commercial agent, age 46 and Zofia Lubliner, age 38".)
(The birthdate in the birth certificate is a bit confusing (for me), it could be related to the Hebrew calendar. The birthdate according to the Gregorian calendar isn't 100% clear to me yet.)
(On a family-card of Zijgmon, found in de city-archives of Amsterdam, see the link 'sources', you can read that he left for Berlin on 27/8, the year probably 1881 and later, probably returned to Amsterdam on 27/7/1903.)
(According to a newspaper advertisement from the CBvG, Zijgmon was burried at Zorgvliet (see the link 'sources'). Inquiries (in 2024) with the administration of Zorgvlied revealed that the name Perdeck was not present in the records there).
(The surname Samehtini sounds Italian, but it is an adopted name. There are music-making descendants with the original surname 'Van Leeuwarden'. See the publication (Benjamin, 2018, Volume 30, nr.113, pp.10-11) of great-grandchild Nine Perdeck.)
(You can read a significant part of the Samehtini family tree on this page).
1. | f | Estelle Sophia (Ella) Przedecki [10] (see also IV.29). |
2. | m | Albert Adam Perdeck PhD [1] (see also IV.31). |
3. | m | Max Przedecki (van Perdeck, van Perdek) [11] (see also IV.34). |
(His marriage is also mentioned on a Czech genealogy website. His name is written as 'János Perzedeczky')
(New York Passenger Arrival Lists (Ellis Island), 1892-1924: Consul Mr. Joseph Przedecki, age 40, and his wife Mrs. Joseph Przedecki, age 38(!), both living in Breslau, left Dover on September 16, 1904 on the schip 'Deutschland', arriving in New York on September 22, 1904; see 'sources'.)
(One does wonder what happened within this marriage. Married in Budapest in 1902. Had children in 1903 and 1908 in Berlin. Traveled with his wife (age 38!) in the USA in 1904 (unless he was travelling with his 'secretary'). His wife died in London in 1911 and Josef is not found in London around that time).
(Family tree of the Bornemisza de Kászon family, an old Hungarian noblity.)
(Henriette and sister Otillie are grandchildren of Heinrich Schossberger de Tornya link.)
(Henriette is a distant relative of the well-known industrialist Heinrich Thyssen. Their first shared ancestors are Jósef Bornemisza de Kászon (1761-1822 x Róza Barcsay de Nagybarsca (1765-1817)).

(MyHeritage: on September 1939 his adress was: 23, Old Manor Court, Abbey Road, St.Maryleborne, London, England.)
(Check ancestry.com where you will find (1947-1965) Leo Perdeck, Betty Perdeck and Werner H.J. Perdeck in the 'London, England, Electoral Registers 1832-1965'.)

(True or not true: Considering that Regina speaks 'hebrew' according to the passenger list, I searched the Jewish registers (before 1896 there were registers per religious community, after 1895 there were common registers of civil status in Hungary). The nearest Jewish register near Mihályi is in Beled, there is inscribed on 06.06.1888 Aladár Deutsch, son of Josef Deutsch, 'vegyeskerkeskedö' (merchant) from Mihály and Mári Krausz from H.bödöge (= Homokbödöge near Ugod), 14.06.1888 is the date of his circumcision ('körülmetélés napja'), the scan is saved but not present in this family tree. Josef and Mári also had a daughter Franka registered there on 03.08.1887 (scan saved, not present here) and a daughter Regina registered there 18.03.1890, see 'sources'. Regina would have been exactly (!) seven years older than mentioned in the passenger list and in the petition for naturalization).
1. | m | Joseph Henry (Joe) Perdeck [215] (see also V.17). |
2. | m | Albert Alexander (Al) Perdeck [259] (see also V.19). |
(The Coutinho family is originally from Portugal but has lived in the Netherlands since the 18th century).
(In Portugal each person usually has two family names.
Though the law specifies no order, the first one is usually the maternal family name, whereas the last one is commonly the paternal family name,
respectively apellido materno and apellido paterno.
In Portugal, a person's full name has a minimum legal length of two names (one given name and one family name from either parent) and a maximum of six names:
two first names and four surnames – he or she may have up to four surnames in any order desired picked up from the total of his/her parents and grandparents' surnames).
(In the course of their lives in the Netherlands, this Portuguese naming probably fell into disuse.
Juda's grandfather and great-grandfather had 'Mendes Coutinho' as their last name.
The birth certificate of Juda's father is a bit confusing: 'Mordechai, son of Lea Lopes Diaz and Salomon Mendes Coutinho', indexed as 'Coutinho, Mordechai Mendes'.
In the birth certificate of Juda his father uses the surname 'Coutinho'.
So the official Dutch name of Juda is 'Juda Coutinho'. His descendant(s) have the surname 'Coutinho'
).
1. | m | Maurice Siegismund (Bob) Coutinho [16] (see also V.21). |
(Source his birth certificate. By Royal Decree of June 20, 1921 number forty-three, permission has been granted to Albert Adam Przedecki in adjacent certificate, in addition to his minor children, to change the family name to that of Perdeck, Amsterdam on the twenty-ninth of July nineteen hundred and twenty-one.)
(Source Bron dbnl, De Gids, jaargang 127: His school education was partly in Germany. At the age of twenty he went to Argentina, where he worked for several years as an interpreter. Later in the Netherlands as a teacher of English and Spanish languages, and a reviewer of new American literature. Published among others: 'Engelsche Lyriek' (1920), 'A survey of English literature' (1925, 1963), 'Theology in Augustan literature' (1928, dissertation on June 7, 1928 at the University of Amsterdam), 'Bernard Shaw' (1962), and under the pseudonym Chris van der Weye, the poetry collections 'De groene deur' (1938), 'Het blijvende' (1944), reprinted in Dat paarlen beeld (1961), 'Nakend op de fiets' (1967), 'Wie verder gaat wordt dood geschoten' (1968).)
(In a family map of father Zijgmon in the City Archives in Amsterdam, see the link 'sources', you can read that Albert Adam was de-registered to Argentina in 1910, together with his brother Max. According to grandchild Esther Albert Adam and his brother Max left for Argentina on October 14, 1908. Albert Adam returned to the Netherlands in the summer of 1911).
(A genealogy of the Dutch branch of the Van der Feltz family is available in the Drents Archive under archive item NL-AsnDA, 0296.)
(In the birth certificate (14-Feb-1853 Geertruidenberg) of grandfather Herman Johannes Robbertus van der Sloot you can read: By Royal Decree of the twelfth Julij eighteen hundred and fifty six, number seventy-nine, inscribed on pages thirteen and fourteen of the current birth registers of that year, is permitted to have the family name of Van der Feltz, to the effect that the person in the adjacent deed may and may call and sign himself as 'Van der Feltz van der Sloot'.)
(Source Bataviaansch newspaper dated 21-10-1924. From Genoa to Amsterdam: A.Ch.R. van der Feltz van der Sloot, Mrs. Van der Feltz van der Sloot and 2 children).
(Apparently there was no marriage with Hildegonda Alida, because Everard Klaas married Jacoba Johanna van Gelder in 1950), born on 04-07-1918 in Leeuwarden, died on 07-05-1989 in Hengelo (OV) at the age of 70, buried in Enschede, Westerbegraafplaats, son of Hendrik Wobben [158] and Ypkje Heidbuurt [159]. She is later married at the age of 56 on 20-12-1977 in Muiden to Joan Reijnhout [143], 59 years old, technical draftsman, municipal works official, born on 22-06-1918 in Middelburg, died on 13-04-1987 in Zwolle at the age of 68, son of Jacob Reijnhout [156] and Adrianam Elisabeth Siebols [157].}
From the first marriage:

Lived in a Dutch monastery for a while and then joined a very strict monastery in Matino, Sicily, Italy. Died of cancer). Born on 24-02-1921 in Hilversum.Died on 12-09-1960 in Matino, Sicily, Italy at the age of 39. |

5. | m | Walter Leonard (Walter) Perdeck [21] (see also V.31). |
6. | f | Ines Joyce (Nine) Perdeck [37] (see also V.35). |
(On a family card of father Zijgmon in the City Archives in Amsterdam, see the link 'sources', you can read that Max was de-registered to Argentina on 1/1/1910.)
(According to granddaughter Esther Max and his brother Albert Adam went to Argentina, leaving the Netherlands on October 14, 1908. Max stayed in Argentina and his brother went back to the Netherlands in the summer of 1911.)
(Albert Adam always told his daughter Nine that Max died very young and in a nasty way (accidentally shot as a pianist (he was) in a bar), this story is confirmed by Roel Coutinho. According to granddaughter Esther Max, shortly after his wife died, left his three small children with Emilia's family and disappeared. Esther's mother heard after 35 years (1955-1957) that Max was still alive and corresponded with his brother Albert Adam, which Albert Adam never told his daughter Nine. Those letters were send to Sante Fe in Argentina. So Max was still alive in 1955-1957.)
(On MyHeritage he is called 'Maximilian van Perdeck'.)
(Very intriguing: the 1915 Census of New York, District No.4, Kings Co, states: 'Max Perdeck, born ca.1880 in Austria, occupation servant'. During the last 6 month of research there is only one Max Perdeck in the world...)
(Is there anyone out there who has info about where and when he died?).
(At MyHeritage she is sometimes known as 'Emilia Georgina', but her baptismal registration is clear: 'Emilia'.)
(Her death is mentioned on MyHeritage but is there as a bare text, without any source).

1. | m | baron Ole Knud Gantzel [251]. (Ole K Gantzel, 21 years old, arriving August 19, 1950 In Ellis Island, NY, USA on the ss Volendam from Rotterdam). Born in Hamburg, Germany. |
(On this webpage (Holocaust Survivors and Victims) there is an Ernst Przedecki mentioned, born July 22, 1908 which matches with his birth certificate. It's not clear on this site if his is a victim or a survivor.)
(Jewishgen.org: Jewish Arrivals in Switzerland, arrival date 15-10-1941.)
(While entering Amsterdam index foreigner cards for the 'Many Hands' project, Baron Ernst is mentioned (so he is a survicor). In August 1952, he came to the Netherlands to settle an inheritance.)
(Where has he gone?).
